The Department of Physics & Astronomy and the Department of Classics are excited to present The Ancient Sky: Sotries Set in Stars. Come learn how the ancient Greeks and Romans combined mythology and astronomy. This event is free and open to all.

There will be No Planetarium Open House on February 22 nd due to Reading Week.

The RASC Winnipeg Centre is presenting an exhibition of members’ astronomical images in the Blankstein Art Gallery of the Millennium Public Library from September 3 – 29. Featured among them are images from the University of Manitoba’s Astronomy Group.
There will be a total lunar eclipse on Sunday evening, September 27.
Starting September 10, 2015, we are begin a new season of open houses at our Observatory and Planetarium. These will be held on the first Thursday of every month, rain or shine.

This Thursday, April 2 will be the last open house until September, 2015!
The evening begins with a show in the planetarium followed by a tour/observing through the Ewen 40-cm telescope (weather permitting). The planetarium is located in University College, on the second level. The observatory is on the roof.
In addition, we are taking the opportunity to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Lockhart Planetarium. We will be serving free coffee and cake in honour of this occasion!
