Outreach

The Lockhart Planetarium is a popular and active space for immersive and interactive outreach activities for curious people of all ages. No astronomy experience required!

The Lockhart Planetarium regularly hosts shows for University of Manitoba events, which welcome U of M students, students in grades K-12 from all over the province, Cubs and Scouts, and members of the community alike. The Lockhart Planetarium is a popular learning experience for CanU Canada students, Science Rendezvous attendees, and the Wawatay program.

Open Houses are monthly events where anyone is welcome to come learn about what constellations are up in the sky, what astrophysics research is being done right here in Manitoba, and what it’s like to travel to other worlds. These events are free and accessible. Open Houses take place on the last Wednesday of every month of the academic year (September – May, excluding December). Seats are limited and registering on Eventbrite is encouraged.

If you are interested in booking a private event for your group please email Dr. Danielle Pahud (Danielle.Pahud@umanitoba.ca) with the ideal date and time, number of group members, age of group members, and topics of interest. Private bookings are subject to availability of the planetarium and its staff. Booking fees are $5/person with a minimum charge of $100.
