Friendly Manitoba, Trust the License Plates!
Winnipeg is the capital and largest city of Manitoba, a province in Canada sandwiched between Ontario (to the East) and Saskatchewan (to the West). Winnipeg is close to the longitudinal centre of North America, and is known to be a multi-cultural city, which hosts numerous annual festivals, including a 2-week multi-cultural festival in the summer known as the folklorama.
It lies in close proximity to the Canadian Shield and hundreds of lakes including Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba. The City has a number of artistic and cultural organizations, including the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and is home to several professional sports franchises. It is home to the University of Manitoba, the province’s largest, research-intensive post-secondary education institution, located near the confluence of Assiniboine and Red Rivers. As the capital city of Manitoba, Winnipeg is a mature city of some 700,000 people with rich recreational and cultural opportunities. It combines the amenities of urban life with easy access to the countryside and to northern lakes and forests. Housing prices are low by North American standards.
