Francis (Yuan) did his Ph.D. with Drs. Noo Li Jeon
and Steven P.Gross at the University of California,
Irvine, mainly making microfluidic chips and watching
white blood cells move under the microscope. He
then moved up to north California and spent the
next 4 years of his postdoc training in Dr. Eugene
Butcher's lab at Stanford University School of Medicine.
While in Eugene's lab, Francis continued to play
with immune cells by doing experiments and running
computer simulations. He has also been playing basketball
with his talented colleagues. In December 2008,
Francis decided to keep moving north and continue
his career of studying immune cells in his own lab
at the University of Manitoba. While not at work,
Francis enjoys various kinds of sports and is a
