This is the big multi-function printer/scanner/copier in the main office, and boasts a multitude of features. Communication to this unit is direct, you will not be configuring it like you with the department print server.
Download latest KX driver (certified and signed by Microsoft) from Kyocera :
click here to visit the page - Select the driver for your particular version of Windows ...
If you don't know your version of windows - right click 'My Computer', left click on 'Properties'.
Extract to a folder and run it from the temporary folder, click on 'Setup' program. * NOTE : for Windows 7 and up, you should probably right click on the 'Setup' program first, then left click on 'Run as Administrator'. The drivers do not install properly even if you are supposedly a Computer Administrator. Select KX DRIVER (usually the first one) - NOT Universal Printing. The program will try to automatically find printer/copier/scanner, if it does that is good (you should see something like kopy301 or 130.179.72.94). IF you are behind a firewall chances are you will be told 'No printing system is found', in which case you'll have to click on the 'Custom select' radio button and do a manual install - choose Kyocera KM-5050, then 'Add Port', use 130.179.72.94 for your Printer Name or IP Address, and 'room301' for your port name, then click NEXT a few times till it starts installing. You may see an optional components wizard pop up at the end, you might want to choose the 'Common Profiles' and 'Plug-in Modules', select the profiles you think you might want to use, the 'Output to PDF' Plug-in module might come in handy and is probably checked off already. When all is done, click FINISH, you'll see something like the following in front of you. Click on 'Auto Configure' to make sure your PC can access all the available features currently installed on the printer/copier/scanner. The last thing to do (and this is important), click on 'Adminstrator', then the 'Job Accounting' panel, then select 'Job Accounting', then 'Prompt for account' (or if you have only one account ID on the unit, you could just pick the 'Use specific account ID' field. But from a security point of view it may be best to use the 'Prompt for account ID'. NOTE : printer will NOT print if you do not have Job Accounting enabled. Make sure you delete temporary install folder, it is no longer required.
